BASIC PROCESSING AND PRINCIPLES FOR SHEET METAL FORMING 


BASIC PROCESSING:

Process sequence of Sheet metal forming stamping (blanking, cutting, trimming, flaring, hole punching, fine punching, continuous die, single-step die, combined die, embossing die, forming) refers to the sequence of the various processes in the metal forming stamping process. The order of the stamping process should be arranged according to the shape of the workpiece, the dimensional accuracy requirements, the nature of the process, and the law of material deformation. 


SHEET METAL STAMPING FORMING PRINCIPLES:


Generally follow the following principles:

(1) For stamping parts with holes or notches, when single-step molds are used, they are usually blanked and then punched or notched. When the progressive die is selected, the blanking is arranged as the final process.


(2) If there are two holes with different positions and different sizes on the workpiece, the holes should be punched and then punched to prevent the deformation of the holes caused by the deformation of the material during the punching.


(3) For the bent piece with holes, in general, it can be punched and then bent to simplify the mold structure. When the hole position is in the bending deformation zone or near the deformation zone, and the hole and the reference surface have higher requirements, the hole should be bent first.


(4) For the deep drawing with holes, it is generally first drawn and then punched. When the position of the hole is at the bottom of the workpiece and the dimensional accuracy of the hole is not high, the hole can be punched and then deepened, which helps to deepen the deformation and reduce the number of draws.


(5) The multi-angle bending parts shall be arranged in the order of bending from the influence of material deformation and the tendency of the material to be deflected during bending. Generally, the inner corners of the outer corners should be bent first.


(6) For complex rotating body drawing parts, generally, the large-sized shape is first drawn, and the small-sized inner shape is drawn later. For complex non-rotating body drawing dimensions, the small-sized inner shape should be first drawn, and the large-sized outer shape should be drawn later.


(7) The shaping process, the leveling process, and the trimming process should be arranged after the basic forming.
