6. Welding And Fabrication
6.1 Classification of welding methods
The welding methods are mainly arc welding, electroslag welding, gas welding, plasma arc welding, melting welding, pressure welding and brazing. The main methods for welding and fabrication are arc welding and gas welding.
6.2 The advantage of arc welding: flexibility, maneuverability, wide applicability, all position welding, processed by simple equipment, good durability and low maintenance cost. But the labor intensity is large and the quality is not stable. It depends on the level of operator.
Suitable for welding and fabrication of carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum and other non-ferrous alloys above 3mm.
6.3 The flame temperature and properties of gas welding can be adjusted. The welding heat source is wider than the heat affected zone, and the heat is not as concentrated as the arc welding, and the productivity is low.
It can be used for welding and fabrication of thin walled structures and small parts, such as weldable steel, cast iron, aluminum, copper and its alloys, cemented carbide, etc.
